Anesthesia/Critical Care Skills Suite

Airway II

The Anesthesia/Critical Care Skills Suite is designed to look like an OR/ICU bed and contains the equipment needed to fulfill the curriculum requirements for anesthesiology training. 

The suite contains an anesthesia gas machine, METI or 3G SimMan simulator and airway training heads. Critical care monitoring, procedure tables, gases, difficult airway cart and crash cart are preferentially housed and used in this suite. The facility is linked to the control center AV hub for training and assessment purposes.

Emergency Medicine/Trauma Skills Suite

Trauma team

The Emergency Medicine/Trauma Skills Suite is designed to look like an emergency room trauma bay, with the focus on the skills necessary to perform ER/trauma related procedures.

The 3g SimMan simulator is typically used in this suite. The room contains a crash cart, defibrillator and other related equipment. The walls and control room are leaded for use of fluoroscopy. The facility is linked to the control center AV hub for training and assessment purposes.

Image-Guided Skills Suite

Image suite

The Image Guided/Ultrasound Skills Suite is designed to look like an endovascular suite, with the focus on image-guided procedural techniques such as fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided biopsies and access. The walls and control room of this suite are leaded. The suite is connected to the AV system for training and assessment purposes.

Surgical Skills Suite

Surgical suite

The Surgical Skills Suite in the SimPORTAL contains the equipment needed to fulfill the curriculum requirements of surgical training. Curriculum includes training in open surgical skills, laparoscopic and endoscopic skills, and curriculum for endoscopy/colonoscopy skills.

Equipment includes laparoscopic and endoscopic trainers, TURP trainer, da Vinci robot simulator and computer simulation programs. The suite is equipped with two video cameras to provide video capture as well as a PTZ camera for room monitoring and recording of skill testing. Network bi-directional communication is provided to all internal and external resources.

SimPORTAL also includes a small surgical wet lab to allow students and residents to practice various surgical skills. A variety of tissue and supplies are available to achieve curricular goals. 

The surgical skills areas of SimPORTAL are accessible 24 hours per day by UCard.

Wet Lab

Wet labThe wet lab offers a safe and sterile area for learners to practice techniques that require tissue (animal or artificial). It is also equipped with supplies and equipment needed for such procedures that are easily accessible.
